Recently we put Ash under the PI spotlight. Here’s how she got on in our quick fire question and answer session:

Background & Training
I always had a love of art and design from a very young age. I could regularly be found in the art studios at school and loved to draw on everything, much to my mum’s despair! It made sense to make a career out of something I was so passionate about and I feel very lucky to be able to work in design and put my passion to good use!

After I graduated from The Manchester College I gained experience with several design and advertising agencies around the Manchester area. I loved the buzz and the creatively each day would bring. No two days were the same. My time with the advertising agency TBWA/Manchester allowed me to work on some very well known brands such as GHD, Nissan, Kellogg’s and Manchester United.

Whilst I loved agency I also wanted to know what working in-house would entail. So after a few years I moved to an in-house design role where I learnt a lot about Marketing and really got under the skin of one brand only. I also gained experience of working in-house in Australia which was a real eye opener having only worked in Manchester.

However, my heart was always with agency and in Manchester. It’s where I feel can be the most creative and I enjoy working with different brands everyday. This led me to come and work for PI and I am very much enjoying it! It’s a great team and a great place to be creative.

Hobbies and Interests
In my spare time I like to paint and sketch. I love watercolours and I am trying my hand at oil painting. I also love to go to comedy and music gigs and spend time with friends and family. I enjoy trying new restaurants so working in Altrincham is great as it’s a real hub for restaurants and food stalls. Always thinking about where my next meal is coming from!

Which design project are you most proud of and why?
PI is a busy design studio and since I have started I have had the opportunity to work on a large variety of clients. I’ve been able to sink my teeth into lots of projects including branding, business stationary, illustration, infographics and brochure design.

Recently I have completed a project for Hallis Hudson, a soft furnishings manufacturer. Hallis wanted to launch a new product, a stylish range of curtain poles. The project involved initial branding designs and developed into a variety of print applications. I also got to be involved in the photography, an area that I find fascinating. The client is very happy with the final result and feels it really stands out in their marketplace.

Definitely the people. It’s great to work with such a lovely bunch and we all get on really well. It makes for a great atmosphere in the studio which in turn makes the creativity flow! Also, there is a tradition of bringing in cake for a birthday, special occasion and even just a Tuesday! Anywhere with cake in such abundance is good for me, but maybe not my waistline
